Recently I've been trying to curb my spending, finding I had a wardrobe jam packed, but with limited outfits. Instead of my usual impulse, buying whatever I see that I like, thus ending up with a multitude of beautiful but individual items, I decided to try an Autumnal capsule wardrobe. So far, it's working pretty well! It makes picking an outfit in the morning much easier, perfect now I'm back in the swing of sleeping through my alarm and rushing to uni!
These are a couple of my favourite looks this Autumn. They are all outfits I would wear on a day-to-day basis, and a brilliant example of how interchangeable a capsule wardrobe is.
I am loving my dungarees. I'd been thinking about getting a pair for a while, but just wasn't sure if I could pull them off. Say goodbye to the farmer stereotype, these skinny black dungarees are where it''s at. I pair my New Look Skinny Black Dungarees with a simple New Look Grey High Neck Tee and to jaz up the demure colours, my New Look Gold Sparkle Pumps.
Black skinny jeans will always be a staple in my wardrobe and I wear my Dorothy Perkins High Waist Skinny Jeans at least once a week. This seriously cute Topshop Stripe Tie Back top is a twist on a classic tee as it closes together in the back with a pink bow. I finish this outfit with a pair of Topshop Black Bow Slip Ons.
Sticking with the black and white stripes, I've dressed down the previous look by changing the open back for Three Quarter Sleeve Stripe New Look Tee, skinny jeans for Faded Black Pretty Little Things Mom Jeans and ballet pumps for more casual pumps.
Same shoes and stripe theme but this time switched up with a Miss Selfridge Midi Stripe Dress. I love the burgundy colour and small side split. The thicker rib material and high neck turn a dress in to a perfectly acceptable winter day to day outfit. What initially drew me to this dress was that it looks fab with my favourite Nude Pull and Bear Jacket.
Back to the Topshop Black Bow Slip Ons and Dorothy Perkins High Waisted Jeans, but channelling a bit of Blair Whaldorf with this Miss Selfridge Ruffle Blouse with New Look Silver Layer Necklace.
This Miss Selfridge Khaki Ruffle Neck Top is a perfect example of how versatile a capsule wardrobe is. Paired here with my Topshp Black A Line Skirt and Forever 21 Black Boots makes a perfect outfit for going out to lunch or a browse round the shops. Pair the same top with the New Look Skinny Dungarees and flats and it's a casual, cozy winter outfit. These little boots I picked up from Forever 21 are a staple item as they can be paired with pretty much any outfit.
As you can see another trend I've been loving is the ruffle high neck. I pair this Topshop Grey Ruffle High Neck Top with the adorable Topshop Pink Corduroy Pinafore and my interchangeable Forever 21 Black Boots.
I can tie all the outfits together using my three key accessories, the gorgeous Nude Pull and Bear Jacket I have been lusting over for weeks, my Topshop Pink Bobble Hat and my new River Island Nude and Grey Bag.
These are just a couple of my favourite outfit combinations from my first attempt at a capsule wardrobe. So far I am loving having such an accessible wardrobe!
